My ideal career path

People have often asked me what I would like to do in the future. They have asked me quite a few times: what is your ideal career path for the future? Even now, graduating from college after years of studying and long nights preparing for exams, the question still comes up. So what exactly could it be? What exactly could be my ideal career path?

My ideal career path involves mainly prop-making and 3D design. Away from school and the responsibilities of a designer, I enjoy 3D printing props on the side. This side hobby of mine is something I’m very fond of and getting better at it as time goes on. I mostly print helmets from sci-fi movies, shows and video games. Although, that’s not to say that’s all I’m good at. When working in this field, I’ve spent a lot of time with various tools to make sure I get the best results. From printing to sanding, priming and then painting, I’ve done quite a bit of work in this department. Experimenting with different techniques and tools has allowed me to learn a lot.

Printing origins

3D printing is a hobby that has gotten better and better throughout the years. Over the past couple of years, especially. New, more performant printers are on the market, and better than ever. Not to mention what’s keeping them running in the first place. From new designers taking the stage, to new inspirations from films and shows. Designers and engineers, hobbyists and more, it’s something that many people enjoy and use to create amazing things.

For myself, I’ve completed quite a few sci-fi helmets during my time printing. Mainly from Star Wars, all the helmets made are made to fit perfectly. These are all made with visors, interior padding, electronics and great paint jobs. If I could, I’d really enjoy making or designing helmets and other props as a job in the future.
